Tremron Home Additions & ADU: The San Francisco Owner’s Guide

If you’re looking at a Tremron paver or retaining wall product that’s part of a home addition or ADU project in San Francisco, we can source and install the exact replacement. A full home addition in San Francisco typically runs $53,100 – $153,400, and an ADU construction project runs $106,200 – $259,600, with Tremron pavers for driveways, walkways, and retaining walls falling between $4,130 and $21,240 depending on square footage and site prep. Most Tremron products fail slowly: you’ll see paver settling at the edges of a new ADU walkway, hairline cracking along a driveway that was compacted over clay-rich San Francisco soil, or retaining wall blocks shifting after a wet winter. We write out every cost before a single tool touches the ground.

Key Takeaways:

  • Tremron pavers and wall blocks are manufactured in Florida, so availability in San Francisco often means a 2 – 3 week lead time for less common colors and series.
  • Most Tremron “failures” in San Francisco are actually base-prep failures, not paver failures, which means the fix is redoing the substrate, not replacing every block.
  • We carry common Tremron paver sizes for spot repairs and can match existing patterns for larger section replacements.
  • Every project gets a written price before work starts, and a 365-Day Done Right Promise on the finished installation.

Which Tremron Models This Applies To

Tremron makes several product lines that turn up in San Francisco home additions and ADU projects. The most common we see are the Estate Paver series (used for driveways and courtyards), the Olde Towne Paver series (popular for ADU patios and walkways because of the tumbled, aged finish), and the Wall System series (used for terrace retaining walls on sloped San Francisco lots). The paver itself will have no visible model name; you identify it by measuring the dimensions. Olde Towne pavers run 4×8, 8×8, and 8×12, while Estate pavers often come in 6×6 and 6×9. Gravity wall blocks from the Tremron Wall System are typically 6 inches high with a battered face. If you’re not sure, take a photo of the paver next to a tape measure and text it to us before you haul anything to the yard.

One notable difference: Tremron is a Florida manufacturer, and its pavers are engineered for Florida freeze-thaw patterns (which barely exist) and high-moisture, sandy soils. San Francisco’s dense clay and seismic movement means the same paver needs a different base spec here. We bring this up because we’ve dug out more than a few San Francisco paver jobs where the original installer used a Florida-standard 4-inch sand base that had long since migrated into the clay. The paver was fine. The prep was not.

We also stock and install materials from KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for the interior portions of ADU and addition work, so the exterior walkway and the interior kitchen don’t get split across two contractors.

Signs Your Tremron Home Additions & ADU Is Failing

  • Pavers sinking at the edges of a walkway or driveway. This almost always means the edge restraint failed and the base material is washing out from underneath. In San Francisco’s wet winters, water follows the slope of the property and carries sand and fines with it.
  • Cracks running across multiple pavers in a straight line. A crack that jumps from paver to paver usually follows a joint in the concrete or aggregate underneath, which means the base has already shifted. Replacing individual pavers won’t stop the line from coming back.
  • Retaining wall blocks leaning or bulging outward. Behind that bulge is almost always either a failed drainage layer or hydrostatic pressure from a wet season. Tremron gravity wall blocks rely on their setback angle; once the wall leans past about an inch, it needs to be disassembled and rebuilt with proper drainage behind it.
  • Efflorescence or white chalky film on the paver surface. This is mineral salts migrating through the paver as water moves through it. It’s cosmetic but it signals that moisture is moving where it shouldn’t, which on a sloped San Francisco lot usually means a drainage problem nearby.
  • Pavers rocking underfoot. A paver that rocks means the sand bedding layer has compacted unevenly or washed away beneath that specific block. Left alone, the rocking paver becomes a cracked paver within a season or two.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Tremron paver work tied to a San Francisco home addition or ADU, replacement pricing breaks into two lanes. A spot repair on an existing walkway or driveway, where we replace a section of pavers and re-set the base locally, runs on the lower end of the range. A full re-installation with new base, new bedding sand, re-laid pavers, and edge restraint runs higher. Our paver driveway installation range in San Francisco is $8,260 – $21,240, with paver patio installation at $4,130 – $12,980. The difference between a $9,000 driveway and a $20,000 driveway is access, slope, drainage correction, and the condition of the existing base. We tell you which one you have before we start, in writing.

Every job includes drop cloths and shoe covers inside the house, a written price before any work begins, and a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves. The 365-Day Done Right Promise means if the pavers shift or the wall leans after the job is complete, we come back and make it right. That’s the same promise we put on a $53,100 addition or a $259,600 ADU.

DIY or Call Us?

One or two cracked pavers in an older walkway is something a homeowner can tackle on a Saturday if they’re comfortable lifting the paver, adding a bit of bedding sand, and tamping it level. What we wouldn’t recommend on your own: rebuilding a retaining wall taller than about two feet, redoing a base under a driveway that carries vehicle weight, or any project where you’re digging down more than a few inches in San Francisco and don’t know what’s underneath. A leaning gravity wall can drop unexpectedly when you start pulling blocks out, and that’s a real injury risk. If the wall is taller than your waist, call us at (831) 480-4497. We’ll look at it, tell you what it actually needs, and give you a written price either way. Graham Stein grew up in Los Angeles and learned the trade at LATTC, and he still walks every job before the crew sets foot on it. Tell him what the room needs to do, and we’ll figure out the rest from there.
