Grohe Roofing: The San Francisco Owner’s Guide

Grohe doesn’t manufacture roofing materials. If you searched for “Grohe Roofing” and landed here, you likely have a Grohe fixture in the house and a separate roofing need, or you found our parts page because we stock Grohe components alongside the exterior work we coordinate for San Francisco homeowners. Either way: we replace and repair roofs across San Francisco at $470 – $2,125 for repairs and $9,440 – $23,600 for full replacements, and we’ll tell you in writing what the job costs before anything starts. Most people discover a roof problem the same way: a ceiling stain after a heavy rain, granules in the gutter, or a drip that shows up three days after the storm passes.

We’re an independent remodeling and general contracting company in San Francisco, not affiliated with Grohe. But if a roof leak has damaged a bathroom or kitchen where your Grohe faucets, showerheads, or thermostatic valves live, we handle that full repair path too, because a leak never stops at the roof line.

Which Grohe Models This Applies To

This page covers two situations. First, you may have a Grohe product that’s been damaged by roof water intrusion and needs parts matched to the exact series: a Grohe Euphoria shower system with a failed mixer cartridge, a Concetto kitchen faucet with a worn ceramic disc, or a Grohtherm thermostatic valve that’s no longer holding temperature after moisture got into the wall. Second, you may have roof work that requires us to protect or temporarily relocate Grohe fixtures while we open ceilings or replace decking above a bathroom.

Grohe parts are unforgiving about compatibility. A cartridge from a Grohe Eurosmart line will not seat correctly in a Grohe Grohtherm 2000 valve body, and the ceramic discs in a Concetto are sized differently from those in a Eurocube, even though the handles look nearly identical. The fastest way to match your part is to remove the trim and read the model number stamped on the brass body, not the handle. If you can’t find it, a photo of the valve works for us. We stock common Grohe cartridges, seals, and aerators on the truck, and we can order anything else the same week.

For roof materials, the bigger compatibility question is the existing roof system. In San Francisco, we regularly see three-tab asphalt over original 1950s skip sheathing, Spanish tile over failed underlayment in the Sunset, and modified bitumen on flat Mission District roofs that’s outlived its 15-year lifespan. The right replacement depends on matching the deck condition, the slope, and the HOA rules if you’re in a multi-unit building. You don’t guess at that, and neither do we.

Signs Your Grohe Roofing Is Failing

  • Ceiling stains in rooms directly below roof valleys or plumbing vents. Water follows the path of least resistance, and in San Francisco homes with older framing, that path is often a valley seam or a failed vent boot. The stain shows up days after rain because water pools above the damaged area before it finds a gap.
  • Granules in the gutter or downspout, especially after a windy week. Asphalt shingles shed protective granules as they age or after wind abrasion. In the Outer Richmond and Sunset, persistent salt air accelerates that breakdown. Bare spots on shingles mean the UV shield is gone.
  • A Grohe shower that suddenly loses consistent hot water pressure. If a roof leak has dribbled into the wall cavity and the thermostatic cartridge has started to corrode, the shower will hunt between hot and cold or deliver a weak stream. This is a parts issue with a roof cause, and fixing only the faucet leaves the leak doing its work behind the tile.
  • Drywall bubbling or peeling paint around an upper-floor window or ceiling corner. This is trapped moisture, not normal aging. By the time paint bubbles, water has soaked into the gypsum and the repair is no longer a patch job.
  • Daylight visible through the roof boards when you’re in the attic. In older San Francisco Victorians and Edwardians, roof decking gaps are common, but if you can see sky, water can get through. This is one of the few checks a homeowner can do safely from an attic ladder.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A freestanding soaking tub in a remodeled primary bathroom

For San Francisco, roof repair runs $470 – $2,125 depending on whether we’re replacing a few shingles, addressing a failed vent boot, or repairing underlayment beneath tile. A full roof replacement spans $9,440 – $23,600, driven by roof size, slope, material choice, and whether the old deck needs reinforcement. Flat-roof membrane work on a typical Richmond or Noe Valley home lands in the middle of that range.

Every quote is a written line item. You’ll see the material cost, the labor, the permit fee, and the disposal. We don’t hand over a number that grows after the crew starts. The crew brings drop cloths and shoe covers when they move through the house, and we photograph the cleanup before we leave. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the roofing work the same way it covers a kitchen or bathroom: if it’s not done right, we make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely do: check the attic for daylight and water marks with a good flashlight, clear debris from gutter corners and downspout mouths, and photograph any ceiling stains with a date stamp so you can track whether they’re growing. That’s useful information for us. What you should not do: walk a steep or wet roof, open a wall to inspect a Grohe valve, or attempt any roof patching from a ladder. Roof falls are a leading cause of serious injury on home projects, and a homeowner who’s never worked a steep pitch in San Francisco damp has no reason to learn on a 9/12 slope with a clay tile underfoot.

Call (831) 480-4497. We’ll come out, look at the roof and the fixture, and give you a written price. If the job isn’t a good fit, we’ll tell you that too, and you’ll still have the specifics to take to someone else.
